St Kilda has won its first final since 2010 with a tense three-point victory over the Western Bulldogs in their sudden-death encounter at the Gabba.
The Saints built their 10.7 (67) to 9.10 (64) win in the elimination final on a dominant third quarter, kicking four goals to one.
The Bulldogs trailed by 24 points at three-quarter time and reduced the margin to three during the final term, however, the Saints had just enough left in the tank to hold on for the win.
The Saints will now play defending premiers Richmond in the semi-finals, while the Bulldogs become the first side to bow out of the finals series.
Later, West Coast and Collingwood meet in Perth for a spot in the semi-finals.
