Unless you've been living in a hole for the last week, you can't have missed the "austerity budget". As well as upping VAT, Chancellor George Osborne has commited the public sector to reducing its spending by 25% in the next five years.
While the budget saw a freeze on all public sector pay over £21,000, this in itself isn't going to be enough to bring about the belt-tightening which is required.
