Live Q&A: The pensions minister takes your questions

The government sparked controversy by pushing forward huge changes to the state pension and retirement age this week.

If you are in your 50s or 60s and worried about how you are going to manage financially in retirement, you may have welcomed the abolition of the default retirement age, which enables employers to cast out staff at the age of 65.

On the other hand if you are a woman, the announcement that the age at which you can draw the state pension is being shunted upwards rather more quickly than previously planned may come as a blow.

Pensions minister Steve Webb will be online live on Thursday 20 January to answer your questions about the state pension age, default retirement age and the introduction of auto-enrolment into your employer's pension scheme. You might also want to ask him what the government is doing for current pensioners, particularly poor ones, and how pensioners can improve their income in retirement.

Please post your comments below, and return on Thursday at 1pm to read the minister's responses.
