There’s plenty to think about when starting as a newly qualified teacher (NQT). From finding the right school for you, learning timetables, or stocking up on stationary; the to-do list can seem never ending.

And once you make it to the classroom, there’s a whole new set of challenges, like making a good first impression and learning the names of your new class.

So for those that are feeling overwhelmed, or just want to make sure they make the most of their NQT year, we’re running an online Q&A with a panel of education experts.

You can post your question in the comment section below or join us from 5.30pm on Wednesday 3 June to follow the discussion live.

Our Q&A will cover:

  • How to find a NQT position
  • How to tell if a school is a good fit
  • Getting the most out of your time there
  • Tips on making a good impression

Our panel

  • Alison Stott - strategic lead - Edge Hill University
  • Phil Paul - assistant head teacher - Byrchall High School
  • Jane Essex – PGCE lecturer – Brunel University – has been involved in teacher education for nearly twenty years
  • Dave Darwent – associate lecturer, PGCE post 16 & further education – Sheffield Hallam University
