Live outdoor events could return in Scotland from 24 August - including music, theatre and comedy

Nicola Sturgeon is hoping that live events could see a return from 24 August if the rate of transmission remains low.

Today the Scottish Government had to review their current lockdown measures by law and although Scotland will remain in phase three for now, the First Minister gave some indicative dates for when she hopes certain aspects of normal life can return.

From August 24th, live outdoor events - such as theatre, comedy and music could return in Scotland as long as they adhere to strict social distancing measures.

The Scottish Government has now published guidance stating that live events (outdoor) may return on this date with "physical distancing, enchanted hygiene and restricted numbers."

The news comes as Edinburgh City Council was forced to pull this year's August Edinburgh Fringe Festival due to coronavirus restrictions.

The First Minister also announced a £2.5m increase to the Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund taking the total available to £12.5m.
