Live: NSW Now: Probe into coronavirus cluster at Newmarch House sees worker stood down

Fifteen residents at Newmarch House have died after contracting COVID-19.

Here's what you need to know this morning.

Health-care worker stood down

A health agency contracted to assist at a Sydney aged care home at the centre of a deadly coronavirus outbreak has been asked to stand down an employee.

Aspen Medical said Anglicare made the request after an investigation into alleged breaches of infection control at their facility, Newmarch House, in Caddens.

More than 60 residents and staff at the home have tested positive, with 15 residents dying after contracting the virus.

Last week, NSW Chief Medical Officer Kerry Chant said there had been failures in infection-control protocols at the facility and enquiries had begun.

Legal action over coronavirus travel cancellations

Law firm Slater and Gordon is working to build a class action against travel providers who have breached their obligations to customers hit by cancellations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Providers targeted will include airlines, travel agents and tour companies. As of Monday afternoon, Slater and Gordon had registered more than 400 expressions of interest.

Members of one family, the Sylvesters, said they were offered a credit note when their $10,000 holiday was cancelled.

The Sylvesters said they were disappointed and frustrated by their travel provider's actions but were unsure if they would take legal action.

Man stabbed in Potts Point

A 42-year-old woman has been charged over the stabbing of a man in Potts Point.

Emergency services were called to Darlinghurst Road at 1:30pm yesterday and found a 19-year-old man with a stab injury in his neck.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition. The woman was arrested and charged a short time later.

NSW Police said the pair did not know each other.

Family's fresh appeal to find backpacker

The family of missing backpacker Theo Hayez has launched a fresh appeal for information on his whereabouts.

It comes as the first anniversary of his disappearance approaches.

The 18-year-old Belgian was last seen leaving the Cheeky Monkey nightclub in Byron Bay on May 31.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Hayez's family appealed for any witnesses or people with information to come forward, saying "we want to hear from you".

NRL players cleared

South Sydney has confirmed three players have been tested for COVID-19, after reporting mild symptoms of the illness.

The club said in a statement three players were tested yesterday morning and were cleared later in the day.

It followed reports yesterday that Latrell Mitchell, Rabbitohs captain Adam Reynolds and prop Liam Knight were turned away from training after they presented with symptoms of the virus.

Mitchell was fined last week after he was photographed on a weekend getaway with 10 others, in breach of social-distancing rules.
