Live: NSW Now: Premier to announce timeline for reopening gyms in 'very near future'

Here's what you need to know this morning.

Coronavirus gyms announcement

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will this week announce a timeframe to reopen gyms shut during the coronavirus lockdown.

While several social-distancing restrictions will be eased in NSW today, including limits on people allowed in restaurants and bars, gyms have been off limits since March.

Speaking on radio station 2GB this morning, the Premier also said an update on children's community sport and dance studios was imminent.

"We'll have something to say about that in the very near future and we thank everybody for their patience in that regard," she said.

Western Sydney airport metro boost

Around 14,000 jobs will be created as the construction of the Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport rail project kicks off in Western Sydney this year.

The Federal Government has invested an extra $3.5 billion into the project, bringing its total cost to more than $11 billion.

Two new stations were confirmed today — one at at Luddenham and one at Orchard Hills — in addition to a previously announced stop at St Marys.

Minister for Urban Infrastructure said Western Sydney residents would benefit from both the rail project and the Western Sydney airport project, the latter of which is already underway.

Newmarch residents cleared of virus

The Western Sydney aged care home at the centre of one of the country's biggest coronavirus outbreaks has cleared all residents who tested positive for COVID-19.

Nineteen residents died, and 37 residents and 34 staff tested positive for the virus at the Newmarch House nursing home in Sydney's west.

The outbreak began in mid-April after a member of staff worked six shifts with mild COVID-19 symptoms.

In a statement, the facility's operator, Anglicare, said it would remain vigilant for infection but the result was "an enormous relief to all our families and residents".

$10m to hire 100 RFS employees

The NSW Government has injected $10 million into the Rural Fire Service (RFS), with part of the funds going towards hiring 100 full-time employees.

Emergency Services Minister David Elliott said those new employees would be brought into the service as soon as possible to "prepare for what will probably be another challenging season".

Under the initiative, more than 70,000 volunteers will be educated on hazard reduction burning methods, which can reduce the spread of bushfires.

"Just one of these reductions could mean the difference between a property being lost or saved, or worse," RFS Commissioner Rob Rodgers said.

Body recovered in Blue Mountains

NSW Police have recovered the body of a man in the Blue Mountains, believed to be a 75-year-old who went missing in the area last Saturday.

The elderly man was last seen on May 23 at Evans Lookout, Blackheath, and his disappearance prompted a large-scale search the following day.

Yesterday, police helicopters located the body of a man on a cliff ledge north of the lookout.

Initial investigations indicated his death was not suspicious.
