Police seek man in attempted murder

Sydney detectives are appealing to the public about the identification of a man regarding an attempted murder in Sydney on January 11.

About 4:00am, a 24-year-old man with stab wounds arrived at St George Hospital in a critical condition.

Police believe he was stabbed multiple times at a unit complex in Bay Street, Brighton-Le-Sands before he drove himself to hospital.

A strike force was established and investigators are seeking the assistance of a man, who is described as having a large build, with black hair, a beard and brown eyes.

Enraged shopper's alleged assault

An agitated shopper who could not find the groceries he wanted allegedly assaulted multiple people at a supermarket in Lismore yesterday.

After being unable to get the items, the 63-year-old man allegedly pushed his trolley into two women, believed to be in their 70s, knocking one of them to the ground.

He then allegedly pinned a 45-year-old female store attendant against the shelving and punched her in the face and chest.

Another store manager and a security guard were also allegedly assaulted.

The man was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, was refused bail and will appear at Lismore Local Court today.

Sydney cafe 'forced to fire staff'

A Sydney cafe owner says he is heartbroken and can't sleep after firing four staff in one week as coronavirus sparks a national economic crisis.

Malik Houchar runs Samira's Lebanese Kitchen in Parramatta which has been left almost empty as people stay home amid fears about the spread of the cirus.

Sales at Mr Houchar's cafe have plummeted by an estimated 60 to 70 per cent in a matter of days.

"It's f***ing heartbreaking," Mr Houchar said.

Jewellery heist in Sydney overnight

Germani, a high-end jewellery store in Sydney, was broken into and robbed in Sydney's CBD around 3:20am today.

NSW Police said three men were seen getting out of a vehicle armed with a baseball bat and hammers, and smashed in the windows of the jewellery store on George Street. 

The trio, all wearing dark clothing and with their faces concealed, smashed display cases, stealing a large sum of jewellery before fleeing in a dark-coloured vehicle on George Street towards the Anzac Bridge.

Police are appealing to the public for any information.
