Once lumbered with all the trappings of their hardcore scene surroundings (maniacal fans, a circle pit in every town, blanket indifference from the mainstream media), in recent years Lower Than Atlantis’s output has floated towards a pop plateau. Hopefully, their April shows will see the Watford band reliving their rock roots (10-23 Apr, tour starts O2 Academy Oxford) …

Having also abandoned their heavy heritage for commercially viable choruses are Twin Atlantic, who’ll be playing a string of dates in May (5-9 May, tour starts Albert Hall, Manchester) …

Tipped for greatness this year is George The Poet, the 23-year-old performance poet who came in at No 5 on the BBC’s Sound Of 2015 poll. Citing Bob Marley and Malcolm X as influences, he told the BBC he’ll “do everything to enact structural change” in the UK (19 Feb-13 Apr, tour starts Berkeley Suite, Glasgow) …

Also on the up, but with a little less determination to reorganise society in its entirety, 2014 Mercury prize nominees GoGo Penguin have announced their biggest gig to date at Camden’s KOKO (NW1, 12 Jun).
