Having last week announced the release date for her debut album proper, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit (23 March), droll Australian singer-songwriter and, in her new video, sadly incompetent clown Courtney Barnett has booked some UK dates to go with it (27 Mar-9 Apr, tour starts Concorde 2 Brighton)…

Barnett has also been added to the Green Man festival lineup (20-23 Aug, Brecon Beacons), alongside a who’s-who of idiosyncratic indie including St Vincent, Father John Misty and Hot Chip…

Hot Chip seem to have been on a hiatus of late, spending most of last year devolved into their various side-projects, including Joe Goddard’s 2 Bears and Al and Felix’s New Build, but now they’ve pencilled in a proper show before their string of summer festival appearances (The Institute, Digbeth, 20 Feb) …

Finally, scrappy Essex rapper Rat Boy makes guitar-led hip-hop in the vein of Jamie T and his tales of delinquent youth. He plays a solo London gig shortly before going on tour with Liverpool indie band Circa Waves (Dublin Castle, NW1, 1 Apr).
