Victoria reports record community coronavirus transmission growth

Victoria recorded its biggest daily increase in coronavirus community transmissions to date in the COVID-19 pandemic and Acting Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly praised the state's "innovative and proportionate" response.

There were 73 new cases recorded in the state during the past 24-hours as hotspot Melbourne suburbs prepared to enter lockdown from midnight tonight.
