5:00pm: Indian rupee closes 18 paise higher at one-month high of 63.55 against US dollar

3:30pm: The S&P BSE Sensex closes 0.74%, or 200.34 points, higher at 27,316.17, while the CNX Nifty ends 0.62%, or 50.35 points, higher at 8,224.95.

3:17pm: The S&P BSE Sensex pares gains to trade 0.60%, or 162.59 points, higher at 27,278.42, while the CNX Nifty trades 0.48%, or 39.40 points, higher at 8,214.

2:27pm: The S&P BSE Sensex is now up 248.51 points, or 0.92%, at 27,364.34.

2:20pm: RIL shares jump over 2% to hit the Rs1,000 mark, for the first time since 28 November 2014.

2:00pm: Natco Pharma Ltd shares gain over 6 on BSE on reports that US-based Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc. has won a favourable verdict in a US court to launch a cheaper generic version of Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical’s multiple sclerosis drug Copaxone 20mg in the US market.

Momenta partnered with Switzerland-based Novartis AG’s generic subsidiary Sandoz Inc., and Natco tied up with US-based Mylan NV to challenge Teva’s Copaxone 20 mg patent. Read more.

1:50pm: Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) is currently trading higher by 2.7%. The company’s wholly owned subsidiary—Mahindra First Choice Wheels (MFCWL)—multi-brand certified used car company has inaugurated its second outlet in Jalgaon, Khandesh in Maharashtra.

1:35pm: The S&P BSE Sensex is now up 183 points, or 0.68%, to 27,299.28.

1.30pm: Sun TV Network Ltd rises 9.2% to Rs.337. India’s attorney general approved its security clearance, according to the news report.

11:41am: The S&P BSE Sensex is now up 198.47 points, or 0.73%, to 27,314.30.

11:40am: Housing Development Finance Corp. Ltd (HDFC) rises 2.2% to Rs.1,236.60. Macquarie has raised the stock performance to neutral from underperform, Bloomberg reported.

11:25am: Premier Explosive Ltd surges 10.2% to Rs.270 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has received licence from the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) for flexible liner shape charge, explosives reacting armour and single base propellant.

11:14am: Castex Technologies Ltd drops 5% to Rs.168. The company clarified to BSE that FCCBs issued by company are due for repayment in September 2017. No FCCBs have matured for repayment and no defaults have been made on the FCCBs issued by the company. Trouble with bond holders is not correct and non-factual.

11:00am: Suprajit Engineering is up 3% to Rs.129 on BSE after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has acquired 51% stake in Phoenix Lamps Ltd. Phoenix Lamps is trading up 2.2% to Rs.108.50.

10:50am: Shares of Hindustan Unilever Ltd fall 1.8% to Rs.846 apiece after the stock turned ex-dividend today. The company has given a dividend of Rs.9 per share to its shareholders.

10:39am: The BSE market capitalization hits Rs.100 trillion again—a level last seen on 2 June. Currently, it stood at Rs.100.18 trillion.

10:22am: The S&P BSE Sensex is now up 196.28 points, or 0.72%, to 27,312.11.

10:16am: Dish TV India Ltd declines 5.4% to Rs.103.65 after a huge block deal was executed on the counter on the exchanges. Around 47.03 million equity shares, or 4.4% stake of the company, have changed hands in multiple block deals. Further details of buyers and sellers were not available. Earlier, media reports said that Apollo is raising up to $75 million by selling up to 4.4% of its stake in direct-to-home operator Dish TV through a book-building issue.

10:13am: Next Mediaworks Ltd surges 20% to Rs.12.74 after the company said in a notice to BSE that its arm Next Radio is planning to raise up to Rs.115 crore through a debt and share issue.

10:09am: Essar Oil Ltd drops 4.4% to Rs.151.2. Russian oil giant Rosneft’s talks with India’s Essar Group to buy a key stake in the unit that owns the Vadinar refinery have slowed, sources said on Thursday, after the two sides clashed over the western Indian plant’s valuation.

10:05am: Blue Dart Express Ltd rises 1.8% to Rs.6,018.70. The company said in a notice to BSE that its board will meet on 22 June to approve raising Blue Dart Express Ltd’s stake into Blue Dart Aviation Ltd from the present 49% to 74% and initiating steps in connection therewith.

9:59am: DB Realty Ltd surges 8.5% to Rs.66.15 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has joined hands with ECC and Konark to develop a residential project in Andheri in suburban Mumbai.

9:55am: Bharti Airtel Ltd inches up 1.2% to Rs.431.50. Bharti Airtel launched 4G trials exclusively for its customers in Delhi NCR on Thursday, and offered complimentary upgrade to its 4G services at 3G prices.

9:51am: Financial Technologies India Ltd rises 2% to Rs.166 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has entered into a new share purchase agreement with DCB Power, Kiran Vyapar, Agri Power and Aditya Birla Capital on stake sale in Indian Energy Exchange (IEX). The company is planning to sell 16.6% stake in IEX for Rs.357 crore.

9:47am: Sectoral indices—the BSE capital goods and metal indices are top gainers, up 0.9% each, followed by realty index is was up 0.6%. The BSE consumer durables is the top sectoral loser, down 0.1%.

9:44am: Hindalco Industries Ltd rises 2.33% to Rs.122.90. The company said in a notice to BSE that LIC has raised its stake in the company to over 13%. LIC acquired 2.009% stake in the firm through open market transaction between 16 April and 17 June.

9:39am: The benchmark 30-share S&P BSE Sensex is trading higher by 152.40 points, or 0.56%, to 27,268.23, while the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is up 34.30 points, or 0.42%, to 8,208.90.

9:30am: Indian stocks open higher for a sixth day in a row, tracking solid gains in the US stock markets after the Federal Reserve signalled that interest rates would rise more slowly than markets had expected.

9:25am: The yield on India’s 10-year benchmark bond is trading at 7.772% compared with its Thursday’s close of 7.761%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.

9:20am: The Indian rupee opened higher at 63.67 per dollar and touched a high of 63.65, but soon earsed gains to trade at 63.74, down 0.01% from its previous close of 63.73. Read more.

9:15am: The dollar weakens as traders priced in a lower trajectory for Fed rate increases. The US currency is wavering near 123 yen from 123.04 yen on Wednesday. The euro is nearly flat at $1.1373 from $1.1371.

9:12am: Benchmark US crude loses 3 cents to $60.42 a barrel on New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, a benchmark for international oil used by many US refineries, falls 7 cents to $64.19.

9:08am: Chinese shares have backed away from recent peaks on worries that a bubble may be building in equity markets. A flurry of IPOs is accentuating concerns over liquidity. Meanwhile, the government’s moves to curb risks from margin trading are also weighing on sentiment.

9:04am: Japan’s Nikkei 225 rises 0.8% to 20,149.95 and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong adds 0.9% to 26,930.01. South Korea’s Kospi gains 0.4% to 2,049.91 and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 jumps 1.3% to 5,595.80. The Shanghai Composite Index drops 1.8% to 4,698.41 and the smaller Shenzhen Composite Index loses 2.4% to 2,843.23.

9:00am: Asian shares push higher following a rally in US markets, but China’s benchmark sinks again on worries over the potential impact of a flurry of initial public offerings (IPOs) and moves by regulators to curb margin trading.

8:55am: US stocks netted their biggest gains in a week on Thursday after the Federal Reserve hinted it needs to see a stronger economy before raising interest rates. Ultra-low rates over the past six years have helped drive a bull market in stocks that has pushed the market to record levels.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 180.10 points, or 1%, to 18,115.84. The Standard and Poor’s 500 climbed 20.80 points, or 1%, to 2,121.24. The Nasdaq set a new record high, adding 68.07 points, or 1.3%, to close at 5,132.95.
