Relive the historic moments of last month's royal coronation ceremony at a new photo exhibition, running at two venues in Bangkok starting today.
"The Coronation Ceremony And Celebration" will be on display in the Hall of Fame, M floor of Siam Paragon until June 16, and on the first floor of IconSiam until July 30.
A tribute to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, the exhibition features a selection of 88 historic photographs portraying HM's coronation on May 4 and other ceremonies and celebrations captured during May 2-6.
This is the 12th coronation ceremony in the Rattanakosin period, held in accordance with the country's rich traditions since the inauguration of Bangkok and the Chakri Dynasty 237 years ago.
The exhibition is divided into three zones. The first exhibits HM the King's royal portraits, the second features the distinctive grandeur of the royal ceremony and procession, and the third displays the emotional atmosphere of loyal subjects welcoming their new king and joyously participating in the historic event.
The pictures were taken by veteran photographers and members from Nation Photo Center and FotoUnited Club, including Rachot Wisarankul, who captured the memorable "Royal Portrait In Every Thai Household" of King Rama IX; Wason Wanichchakorn of the Associated Press; and Vatcharasith "Bigs" Wichyanrat, one of Thailand's top fashion photographers.
There is no admission fee. Call Siam Paragon on 02-610-8000 and IconSiam on 02-495-7080.
