Coronavirus, flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) means that the NHS could be hit by a 'triple threat' of winter bugs this season.
People are being urged to book their flu jab and Covid booster jabs, as health officials announce that the country's biggest flu-jab rollout will come into force this winter.
Health secretary Sajid Javid said: “This year we are rolling out the largest flu vaccine programme in our history, alongside the new Covid-19 booster vaccine rollout; both are important to provide vital protection not only to yourself, but also your loved ones while also helping to ease pressure on the NHS."

A report in the summer from Academy of Medical Sciences assessed how the threat of coronavirus, flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) might affect the NHS over the coming months.
It found that hospital admissions and deaths from flu and RSV could be more than double those seen in a normal year, leading to as many as 60,000 flu deaths and 40,000 children in hospital with RSV.
This comes as two areas of Leeds are battling soaring Covid rates, with the areas of Drighlington and the west of Gildersome having a collective infection rate of over 800 per 100,000 people.
