
Over 60 world leaders joined mourners in Paris Monday to pay their final respects to France’s former president Jacques Chirac as the country held a national day of mourning for its charismatic former head of state.
- Former French president Jacques Chirac died on Thursday, September 26, aged 86.
- Chirac was then buried with full military honours at the Montparnasse cemetery in Paris, during a quiet ceremony for close family and friends on Monday.
- The funeral mass was held at Saint-Sulpice church in the French capital.
- A total of 69 world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US president Bill Clinton, attended the services.
