  • Four people, including three police officers and an administrative worker, were killed in the knife attack at Paris police headquarters, which lies across the square from Notre-Dame Cathedral.
  • A police union official said an officer shot the attacker “in a situation that appears to be self-defense”. 
  • The attacker was described as a model employee. He has not been named and investigators are still looking into a possible motive for the crime.
  • The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into manslaughter and willful homicide.
