Live: Coronavirus cluster 'shouldn't be an opportunity to vilify' health workers, Gutwein says

Tasmania's Premier Peter Gutwein has hit out at "keyboard warriors" who he says are blaming healthcare workers for a coronavirus cluster that has led to nearly 5,000 people self-isolating.

Australia's Chief Medical Officer yesterday said an "illegal dinner party" led to about 50 health workers contracting coronavirus, before he withdrew that claim. Mr Gutwein said it was a "rumour" but would be investigated.

Now the Premier has called for "anyone that's thinking about lining up a healthcare worker and taking a pot shot at them" to take a breath and trust police to investigate the claims.
