The past few months have been something of a nightmare for holidaymakers. A harsh winter saw flights cancelled and Eurostar breakdowns because of the snow, while spring saw the start of a series of BA strikes and a cruise ship hit by the norovirus. And then there was that ash cloud

Other holidaymakers have been unfortunate enough to have holidays cancelled over the past few years due to an increasing number of travel companies – such as Goldtrail – and airlines – such as Flyglobespan – going bust.

Where do you stand when this happens, and how can you protect yourself from it happening in the future? Perhaps you are one of the passengers who was caught up in this chaos and are still trying to get money back from your airline or travel company? Maybe you are still confused about what exactly you are entitled to claim for?

Philip Banks, partner in the travel law team at Irwin Mitchell, James Fremantle from consumer body the Air Transport Users Council, and John DeVial, head of communications at ABTA, which represents travel agents and tour operators, will be online at 12.30 on Tuesday 10 August to answer your questions on these sorts of issues and any other holiday problems you have faced.

Post your queries below and come back on Tuesday to find out what they say.
