Live clinic: the housing market

The housing market is a strange place at the moment. In most areas of the country sales are slow and house prices are falling, but in pockets of the south-east homes are still selling fast and for high prices. Borrowers who can get mortgages are making the most of low interest rates, while those who want to borrow still need a big deposit and a squeaky clean credit record.

To help you navigate the market, whether you are a would-be first-time buyer, a mover, or someone wondering whether or not to remortgage, we have a panel of experts who can answer your questions.

James Cotton of mortgage broker London & Country; Ed Mead, director of estate agent Douglas & Gordon; and Malcolm Webb, head of technical services at chartered surveyors e.surv will be online on Wednesday 28 September from 12.30pm.

Their answers are for guidance only. To get specific advice, speak to an independent financial adviser or solicitor, or use our mortgage switching service.
