LIVE as Greater Manchester beer gardens, shops, gyms and hairdressers reopen

Pub beer gardens, non-essential shops, barbers and gyms will reopen today to the public as lockdown restrictions ease.

The first pints will be poured for thirsty punters while those with overgrown 'lockdown hair' will be queuing up for a much-needed trim.

Other parts of the leisure industry can also resume today - zoos, theme parks and drive-in cinemas have all been given the green light.

Today marks the start of Step Two of the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

It follows months of closure for large parts of the hospitality sector as people were urged to stay at home.

There will still be restrictions on social contact - indoor venues can only be visited with members of one household, while the rule of six applies outdoors.

But for many, it's a welcome return to normality after four key tests against the risk of coronavirus were met.

Today, we have reporters out and about across Greater Manchester to bring you the latest updates as restrictions ease in our region.
