As it happened: APRA plans to step in on bank executive pay

The banking regulator is planning to step in to ensure banking executive pay is less focused on financial performance and more on risk management and customer outcomes, APRA boss Wayne Byres has told the royal commission.

Earlier, the commission heard that regional bank Bendigo and Adelaide does not pay its executives large short-term bonuses, with its chairman telling the commission that a skew towards fixed pay leads to more long-term, customer-focused outcomes.
