As it happened: Liberal vote goes backwards as Labor claims victory in ACT election

Labor leader and Chief Minister Andrew Barr has declared victory in the ACT election, with ABC election analyst Antony Green saying they have won a sixth term in Government with the help of the Greens.

ACT Labor promised an experienced set of hands, having been in power for 19 years now, while the Canberra Liberals ran on a promise of lower rates and better services.

Parties had been out in force to secure every last vote, even though 60 per cent of Canberrans had had their say before Saturday.

Here's how the action unfolded in our live blog.
