LIV Golf tour schedule: Events, dates and locations for 2022

After months of controversy, the LIV Golf tour continues to be a hot topic of conversation in the world of golf with many players having joined the rebel tour which is backed by the Saudi state. Manchester-born Sam Horsfield is one of those players who has joined the tour and joins a long list of players to have signed up to play in the tour which is set to rival the PGA and European tours.

Last week, Sweden's Henrik Stenson was stripped of Europe's Ryder Cup captaincy for his participation in the tour, forgoing one of the biggest honours of many golfers' careers for a place on the tour. One player who won't be joining the host of stars at the event is Tiger Woods, who according to reports, rejected a 'nine figure offer' to join the new tour which has been described as golf's equivalent of the European Super League.

There has been plenty of criticism due to the tour's funding by Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, with accusations of sportswashing due to the human rights record of the Saudi state. However, a number of the biggest names in the sport have joined, including Phil Mickleson, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter.

Despite this, the tour is well underway with the first event taking place at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire last month. The tour's events have a very different format to traditional golf tournaments are 54 rather than 72 (“LIV” is 54 in Roman numerals) with is a “shotgun” start where players tee off at the same time, and players are grouped into teams of four.

There are individual and team events taking place across the eight dates of the tour, with a trophy being presented at the final event which takes place at Trump International in Miami this October.
