LIV Golf to feature PGA Tour-like 'party hole' as rebel league makes its Australian debut

The rebel LIV series is keeping its "Golf But Louder" promise with a 'party hole' designed for its debut in Australia next month.

LIV - fronted by Aussie CEO Greg Norman - will soon make its first stop Down Under when the breakaway tour heads to the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide. And LIV are set to replicate one of the most iconic holes in golf with their own version of the raucous stadium hole on the PGA Tour.

TPC Scottsdale's 16th hole has become famous for the rowdy atmosphere created by up to 20,000 wild spectators at the WM Phoenix Open. And LIV bosses are now hoping to amplify the carnage on The Grange's par-3 12th, that will be known as the "The Watering Hole."

The Watering Hole is set to have DJs playing live music and various other entertainment options as well as the golf.

Norman will hope to attract thousands of fans to the 12th in LIV's bid to create an electric atmosphere in the packed grandstands, with premium-priced areas also arranged for hospitality guests.

LIV recently joked on social media that "imitation is the greatest form of flattery" after the PGA Tour announced a revamp that will see 36-hole cuts scrapped for a series of eminent events.

But there can be no doubt that LIV - derided by many for a unique 54-hole, no cut format - have designed an amphitheatre with a striking resemblance to one of the PGA Tour's most famous holes.

LIV's fourth event of their expanded 14-tournament 2023 calendar will take place at the Southern Australian course from April 21-23 after upcoming stops in Tuscon, Arizona and Orlando, Florida.

And there will be a healthy Australian contingent of LIV rebels teeing it up, including reigning Open champion Cam Smith. World No.5 Smith captains the new Ripper GC team comprising of fellow Aussies Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Jed Morgan.
