Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock is set to front a documentary about racism for the BBC.
The one-off programme will see Pinnock discuss her personal experiences with racism and colourism, as well as the wider pattern of racism across the UK.
The artist said that she hoped to use her public profile as a “platform to bring this conversation to a wider audience”.
Entitled Leigh-Anne: Colourism and Race, the documentary is being produced for BBC Three. No broadcast date has yet been confirmed.
Earlier this year, Pinnock posted a video to Instagram in which she opened up about the racism she has faced as part of Little Mix.
On Channel 4 documentary The Talk, which aired earlier this month, she discussed being racially abused at the age of nine, when a classmate at primary school told her that she was “from the jungle”.
Ahead of her new project, Pinnock said: “Conversations surrounding racism and colourism are something I constantly have with my boyfriend and family.
“Systemic racism is complex; through making this documentary I want to learn how I can best lend my voice to the debate so that the young people who look up to me won’t have to face what me and my generation have had to.”
