Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall's South Shields bar shuts after Covid alert

Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall's South Shields bar has been forced to shut due to a Covid alert.

Staff at Arbeia were contacted by NHS Track and Trace - meaning the Ocean Road venue has been forced to close until next week.

On Facebook, the venue posted: "Due to staff and management being contacted by track and trace we have made the decision to close this weekend, putting the safety of both our staff and customers first.

"We apologise in advance to any of our customers who are booked in this weekend.

"We will be back open for business from next Thursday 8th and will update you with anything necessary via our socials.

"We hope you have the best weekend, see you next week!"

The popular venue initially opened in 2019 as Red Door, before the 28-year-old singer renamed it in a nod to one of the town's Roman fort.

The glitzy venue has attracted a host of fellow celebs, including Andy Carroll, Joe McElderry and Geordie Shore's Sophie Kasaei.

And just days before the venue was forced to temporarily close, Jade herself popped in for a night of live music.

And she got a surprise when the act belted out a cover of Little Mix hit '1 Touch' - with Jade sharing a clip to her 7.7m Instagram followers.
