Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall will open her own Red Door cocktail bar in South Shields

Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall will open her own cocktail bar in South Shields next month.

The popstar has teamed up with Red Door to bring a new late-night venue to her home town, which pledges to bring "great service, extraordinary drinks, and a soundtrack of classic tunes".

The Little Mixer's mixologists have created a 'journey through time' drinks menu, featuring cocktails dating from the 19th century golden and age up to the modern day.

Jade - who owns the 350-capacity bar in Ocean Road - said: "I’m proud to come from South Shields. I love my home town and wanted to invest in the local economy. South Shields is a unique place with a lot to offer and I wanted to support that.

"South Shields has always been known for being a great night out. It’s a town with a real party spirit so I thought where better to open Red Door?

"I wanted to find a company that would shake things up and bring something different to South Shields. Red Door has bars in Chester and Liverpool and it was clear they would be a really good fit for the venue. The main aim is to create an unforgettable experience for everyone who comes to Red Door."

Red Door run cocktail bars in Liverpool and Chester. Red Door South Shields will open with a VIP launch on Friday November 1. Lee Lynch, Red Door managing director, said: "We’re really excited to bring Red Door to South Shields. We know the people of the North East like a good party so we’re delighted to be expanding into the region.

"We think Red Door will bring a new energy to the local nightlife scene. We’re looking forward to welcoming guests and giving them the full Red Door experience."

Red Door's vision for the refurbishment was to create the "perfect venue for nights out with friends and to listen to amazing live music".

Jade and her bandmates will be back in Newcastle this week for three Little Mix shows at Utilita Arena.

They are also launching Little Mix The Search, a Saturday night TV talent show - and are looking for talented singers who would like to form as band, as they did on X Factor.
