Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall joins Bake Off 2021 with Katherine Ryan and Stacey Dooley

Hollywood has arrived in the Bake Off tent – and, no, we don’t mean Paul.

Actress Daisy Ridley, 28, who plays Rey in the blockbuster Star Wars movie franchise, is in this year’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

Daisy, who is from London, found fame playing Rey in the 2015 film, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

So will she try to impress judges Paul Hollywood, 54, and Prue Leith, 80, and host Matt Lucas, 46, with a Leia, sorry, layer, cake. Or did she overdo it with the baking, Yoda?

Twenty celebs were involved in star wars in the tent for the Channel 4 series, which has already been filmed but will not be shown until March.

Pressure

A source said Daisy was willing to take risks, at one point abandoning plans for a glaze to use a chocolate topping instead.

They said: “She is shaking trying to finish in time. The pressure of the tent can even fluster a Jedi.”

Stand Up To Cancer has raised £62million for Cancer Research UK since 2012.

Along with Daisy, the other contestants are James McAvoy, Kelly Holmes, John Bishop, Stacey Dooley, Tom Allen, David Baddiel, Jade Thirlwall, KSI, Ade Adepitan, Philippa Perry, Nick Grimshaw, Rob Beckett, Alexandra Burke, Anneka Rice, Reece Shearsmith, Dizzee Rascal, Anne-Marie, Nadine Coyle and Katherine Ryan.

Each episode will see four celebrities battle it out over three challenges – the Signature, the Technical and the Showstopper – showing off their baking prowess in a bid to be awarded the coveted Star Baker apron.

And as with the normal series, in the Bake Off tent Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will meticulously judge each bake whilst host Matt Lucas is on hand, keeping time and spirits up.

The series is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 that brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving research.

The show starts later in spring on Channel 4. The force be with you, guys.
