Little Mix leave fans 'in tears' during emotional last interview on The One Show

The One Show is never short of memorable moments, and tonight's show was no exception. Good Will Hunting star Minnie Driver discussed her new book of memoirs (and was surprised by a message of encouragement from her favourite former teacher) and, after gracing our screens earlier in the day for the state opening of parliament, they showed a film of Prince Charles paying special tribute to pharmacists working hard in their communities.

However, it was an appearance from pop superstars Little Mix that had fans pouring their hearts out on social media. The band appeared for their emotional final TV interview before taking a break.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards recently announced that they would be taking a hiatus after 10 years of performing together.

Tonight's presenters, Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, read out fan messages explaining how much Little Mix's music had meant to them. Leanne responded by saying the messages made her feel "overwhelmed". She said: "It's such an amazing feeling knowing that's what we do for people. Being able to sing our music on stage, and change people's lives, and help them is just incredible."

After watching some footage of their previous hits, Perrie was asked what her favourite Little Mix song was, to which she replied, "Shoutout To My Ex". The group had clearly been enjoying their final few shows, with Leanne telling viewers, "We don't want it to end!" and Perrie adding, "It's been emotional."

Little Mix will be performing a sold-out show at the O2 in London on Saturday. The show will also be live-streamed globally.

Fans react to Little Mix's last interview

Before Little Mix were even on the screen, fans were clearly already getting emotional. Taking to Twitter @hollyjayne said: "We love you Little Mix thank you for giving us the best 10 years #TheOneShow @BBCTheOneShow."

But as soon as the group appeared for the virtual interview, messages of love kept pouring in for them, with @mishybabez_ tweeting: "Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne look so beautiful. So proud of them, they changed my life so much aww I'm gonna be in tears on Saturday night…"

Some fans took it as an opportunity to share other memories of the group. @graceygw99 tweeted: "I remember meeting Little Mix for a book signing event in London back in 2016. I was so emotional afterwards. and I loved their music over the years I think my favourite one was Black Magic."

Tonight, other pieces on The One Show included actor Kelvin Fletcher reporting on farmers' mental health and some information on the Queen's Baton route to the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. For anyone who isn't familiar with it, The One Show is a magazine and chat show presented by former pro-footballer Jermaine Jenas, pop singer Ronan Keating, and Wales' own TV star Alex Jones. Jones (who was born in Carmarthenshire) returned to the show from maternity leave earlier in the year.

A clip from the show recently went viral that featured actor Dan Stevens comparing Boris Johnson to Richard Nixon. The actor had appeared on the show to promote his new series Gaslit about the Watergate scandal. Other recent guests have included Myleene Klass, Wim Hof, and David Walliams.

Tomorrow, The One show is set to feature an interview with fitness expert Joe Wicks, whose popular #PEwithJoe lessons helped keep the nation moving during the Covid-19 lockdown.
