Little Mix admit they didn't read their contracts after winning ITV's The X Factor

Little Mix have admitted they were "naive" and didn't even read their contracts after winning The X Factor.

The four strong girl band made up of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson gained over night fame on the ITV talent show.

But after originally entering the competition as solo artists and being put together by the judges, the girls say they were massively unprepared for life as a girl band and their careers which followed.

Looking back on their time on the ITV show for new podcast the Power Of Little Mix, Leigh-Anne Pinnock said: "We were so young.

"We were so naive and I think we kind of just got catapulted into it.

"Like, I mean, did we even read a contract girls?"

Perrie Edwards responded: "We didn't," and Jade Thirlwall agreed.

The band won a contract with show judge and mentor Simon Cowell's record label Syco and say they were unaware of what the details entailed as they didn't even read it.

Leigh insisted now they take charge: "Now I look back. I'm like, 'Bloody hell.

"We are so wise now, and grown up and like we've done this for 10 years. And it's like, we just, we just know what we're doing."

The group, who are now a trio since the departure of bandmate Jesy, said they felt the odds were stacked against them and they never expected to win the show and record the winner song Cannon Ball.

Jade added: "That was not chosen for Little Mix!"

But clearly fans disagreed as they stormed the charts and later secured global fame becoming the first British girl group to debut in the US top five, with DNA selling 50,000 copies – beating even the Spice Girls.

The accolades have kept coming ever since as they made history earlier this year at The Brit Awards - becoming the first ever female act to take home the Best Group gong.

Taking to the stage to collect the award in May, a then-pregnant Leigh-Anne told fans: "We have been together for 10 years. It’s been the best years of our lives.

"We’ve gone through so much. We’ve had so much fun and made so many incredible memories."

She then went on to say: "We want to start by thanking our incredible fans, of course Jesy, and our amazing team."
