Little girl's faith in Santa restored after 'magical' moment

A little girl’s Christmas spirit was reignited after Santa pulled up beside her in traffic.

Kirsty Foster was stuck in a queue in Wallasey with her 10-year-old daughter Phoebe when the 'magical' moment happened.

Last week Phoebe returned home from school upset after a friend had told her that “Santa wasn’t real”, leaving her “sitting on the fence” about his existence.

In a bid to keep her Christmas spirit alive, Kirsty wrote a letter to her daughter explaining “Santa is anybody who chooses to share love and happiness at Christmas”.

Kirsty, who lives in North Wales, told the ECHO : “I think she was very much sitting of the fence with the whole “Santa” thing because of her age and what friends had said.”

While the two were stuck in traffic on their way back to Wales after visiting a friend in the Wirral, they couldn't believe what happened.

A car pulled up besides them and Phoebe was "overwhelmed" to see that sitting behind the wheel was Santa.

Kirsty said: “He was waving at Phoebe so she put the thumb up to him.

“He got out and went in the back of his car and gave her a present. “

Kirsty said the event “made Phoebe’s day” and she can not thank the “kind man” enough for what he had done.

She added: “I feel like we really needed this after the whole Santa palaver we’ve had. To me, this is what Christmas and “Santa” is about!”

The 10-year-old immediately rang her dad to tell him about Santa and told him “the most magical thing has just happened.”

Thanking the man for the “magical” moment, Kirsty posted on a community Facebook which received attention from people across the borough within minutes.

Over 350 people liked the post in under an hour and locals filled the comment section to make reference to how "lovely" Kirsty's story is.

One person said: "How beautiful is this, there is some beautiful caring people in this world. Thankyou Santa."

Another person said: "Sounds to me like it’s actually Santa!! Brilliant."

And a third person commented: "Magical. How lovely."
