Little girl's beautiful response after asking self-harm victim about her scars

A former self-harm victim has spoken about the heartwarming response she received from a girl who noticed her scars.

The woman said she was worried about going into work because she would be surrounded with children who would notice her self-harm scars.

So when a little girl pointed them out and said 'that looks sore' she told her they didn't hurt.

The young girl quipped back: "Maybe you're just a secret tiger."

Briony, from Bath, told the story to her 10,000 followers on Twitter.

She tweeted: "so I was worried about going to work because I have self harm scars and there are lots of children but I shouldn't have worried because a little girl looked at me and said “that looks sore!” And I said it’s okay it doesn’t hurt and she said “maybe you’re just secretly a tiger”

"And then we just moved on? amazing. I love kids."

The heartwarming tweet has been liked almost 4,000 times and attracted hundreds of comment supporting Briony who tweets using the tag @litxrallybri.

One commented: "I’ve found so much healing in unexpected conversations about my scars with the children in my life...they are so wonderful!!"

Agreeing with Briony, a woman tweeted: "Kids are brill. They take take everything as face value. Well done you for going into work! And well done to the kids to make you feel better. You tiger!"

Another Twitter user replied: "She is right you are a tiger that can fight and reach her dreams so listen to this girl."

Briony sent a follow up tweet saying: "Today a 14 year old came in and pulled me aside and said “I saw your arms and I’m going through the same thing do you have any advice?” I was absolutely heartbroken honey it gets better I PROMISE."

A Twitter user commented back: "You are going to help and inspire young people in so many amazing ways just by being so unapologetically yourself big love and admiration."
