They're our newest batch of little learners.
This year, thousands of kindergarten students across the Hunter Region have taken a big step into full-time school learning. In the coming weeks, they will celebrate the halfway point in their first year of formal schooling.
And this week, the Newcastle Herald will be publishing photos from a selection of primary schools across the region.
The photos were taken during term 1 and term 2, and are being published to coincide with the end of the first semester.
Today, we feature students from Belair, Cardiff, Fassifern, Fennell Bay, Fern Bay, Floraville, Glendore, Heaton, Kotara South, Plattsburg, and Wiripaang public schools, as well as St St Therese's Primary School.
The full set of photos will be published in the print edition of the Newcastle Herald on Monday, June 15.
