Little elves raise nearly £6000 for charity with a sponsored walk

Teams of toddlers dressed as elves turned up in their droves recently to take part in a one mile sponsored walk to £5,896 for children’s hospice charity, CHAS.

The festive fundraiser took place at The Centre Livingston last month and community fundraiser Hayley Smith picked up the cheque on behalf of CHAS.

The charity, which was founded 30 years ago, provides the country’s only hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

CHAS volunteers said they were blown away with the incredible efforts of the toddlers who took part in the mall’s first ever Elf Toddle Walk.

The funds raised will allow CHAS to provide even more families with support, including medical care and emotional support, at home and in the hospices, and help them to create treasured memories.

Hayley Smith, Community Fundraiser at CHAS, said: “We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in the Elf Toddle Walk and for the support of The Centre Livingston.

“It was amazing to be part of the event and to see so many children and families getting together to fundraise.

“It really echoed what we do at CHAS - helping make magical memories.

“The amount raised was phenomenal and really exceeded our expectations.

“It will make a huge difference in supporting children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Scotland.”

Ashley Bisland, Deputy Centre Director, at The Centre Livingston said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful toddlers and their families who took part in our first-ever Elf Toddle Walk.

“Together they helped raise £5,896.61 for the children’s hospice charity, CHAS.

“Not only was it a fantastic event with lots of families having fun together but to be able to do it all for such a wonderful charity made it even more special and worthwhile.”
