Want that P45 served gratis? Look no further than the world of online drum machines currently doing the rounds on the emails of bored office workers.

Producer/director/visual FX boffin Ron Winter's set is our favourite so far. Sure, they look like they belong on a bad Amiga import, but with a little bit of rhythm and nous, you can get a pretty good beat going.

Matias Najle's iDaft might not quite be this but it's the closest we're ever going to get to dressing like robots and making this happen, right?

For those of a more traditional bent try Ken Brashear's virtual drumkit. It's how Ginger Baker would have learned if he was born in 1997.
