Little Britain to return to TV screens after 10 years

Little Britain is set to return to TV after a decade away, as creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams reunite.

The comedy pair will reprise their iconic characters later this month for charity.

The sketch will be part of the BBC's Big Night In raising money for charity on April 23.

The same night, Peter Kay will make his own return to TV after family circumstances saw him retreat from the limelight two years ago - reports Mirror Online.

The BBC are pulling out all the stops on their three-hour show to keep people entertained during the coronavirus lockdown.

Details of Little Britain's comedy sketch are sworn to secrecy and the actors are keeping tight lipped about what viewers can expect to see.

Matt did reveal the pair had stayed in close contact and the show would return in an entirely different format in recent weeks.

He told The One Show: "David and I message each other most days and send each other those silly memes.

"We are getting on well and we are thinking about what we can do with Little Britain.

"But we don't know what it will be. Could it be a podcast? Could it be on TV? Could it be a stage show?"

It's been 15 years since the show officially ended in 2005 but the pair have collaborated on projects together.

David has previously talked of reviving Little Britain after starring in a Brexit-themed Radio 4 special of the show in October last year.

He said: "There will definitely be some more Little Britain coming. I can’t say when exactly but at the right time and place.

"It was fun coming back for radio because that’s where we started.

"Plus no one expected us to come back on the radio. You would have expected Comic Relief or a big live tour. The reaction was great, which was encouraging."

* Watch The Big Night In on BBC One Thursday April 23 from 7pm.
