Little Britain fans in hysterics as show returns after 17 years - with 'bat' joke

Little Britain fans were in tears of laughter as the legendary BBC comedy returned tonight after 17 years in a one-off special.

Matt Lucas and David Walliams reunited this evening to help raise money for charity and celebrate key workers during the coronavirus crisis.

However, the show looked rather different - and not just because it was a "lockdown special".

The duo donned a variety of rather dodgy wigs and props to help them out.

This included using a collection of scourers as a grey wig and spaghetti for Matt's Vicky Pollard hair.

And the pair addressed the coronavirus pandemic straight away while dressed as Andy and Lou.

David, playing Lou, asked: "Now Andy, I've just been to the supermarket for you, it only took 11 hours, and I got all of your favourites for your tea. Chicken nuggets, chips, more chips. What would you like to eat?"

Matt, playing Andy, replied: "Bat."

And fans were in hysterics, with one tweeting: "Matt Lucas and David Walliams making their own costumes for #TheBigNightIn Little Britain sketch is so funny! It's like a primary school school play and they would both get GOLD STARS!!!!"

While another commented: "@RealMattLucas @davidwalliams omg your #littlebritain sketch for #TheBigNightIn was epic and so so funny thank you both for doing it made me laugh and gave me a much needed lift #Keyworker xx."

A third gushed: " Little Britain was brilliant on #TheBigNightIn! Makes you realise how much you’ve missed it. Thank you @davidwalliams and @RealMattLucas

The funny pair have already been set for a new series of the show on Netflix, but were back tonight for an episode of the classic comedy sketch show.

Lucas previously said on The One Show: "We are getting on well and we are thinking about what we can do with Little Britain . But we don’t know what it will be.

"Could it be a podcast? Could it be a series on TV? Could it be a stage show?

"We have just got to find the time but definitely we will do. We are not 100 per cent sure but we will."
