Lit firework is thrown from a car at another vehicle on Carmarthen road during rush hour

Police are investigating after someone threw a lit firework from a moving car at the vehicle behind it during rush hour traffic.

The incident happened on a busy road in Carmarthen, a short distance from both a secondary school and a primary school.

The firework was thrown from a BMW car in the direction of a Volkswagen Golf that was travelling directly behind it on Llansteffan Road, in the Johnstown area of the town shortly before 5pm on Thursday, October 17.

It landed on the road just in front of the moving car behind.

The person travelling in that car escaped injury, but was “understandably shaken” according to police.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to an incident of an unknown person throwing a lit firework flare from their moving vehicle at the vehicle travelling behind.

"The incident has occurred at approximately 4.55pm on Thursday, October 17 where an unknown person has thrown the firework out their black BMW (registration unknown) and it has landed on the floor in front of the black VW Golf travelling behind.

“This incident happened on Llansteffan Road, near Rhyd y Gors School.”
