Plan Of Attack should make a bold bid to give Henry de Bromhead back-to-back wins in today’s €150,000 Guinness Kerry National in Listowel.
Lightly-raced over fences and already proving himself a better horse over the bigger obstacles,
Robbie Power’s mount boasts solid form and looks nicely-treated off 10-6 in the traditional showpiece of the seven-day Harvest Festival meeting.
Successful at Wexford in July of last year, he won a novice handicap on Aintree’s Mildmay course last October before running a cracker to finish a close third to Roaring Bull in the Paddy Power at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting.
The seven-year-old’s last run was at the Cheltenham Festival when he finished fourth, beaten six and a half lengths behind compatriot Milan Native in the Kim Muir.
Today’s race looks as competitive as ever. But Plan Of Attack, might reward each-way support in a race in which stable-companion Spyglass Hill, the choice of Rachael Blackmore, will bid to bounce back from being pulled up in the Galway Plate.
Twelve months ago, de Bromhead’s Roker Party and Rachael Blackmore denied Ravenhill by a head in the National.
Today, Ravenhill bids for compensation off a 17lb higher mark with amateur Rob James set to claim 7lb.
Since last year, Ravenhill fell in the Troytown in Navan and, when last seen, landed the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham. He has obvious claims here, bidding to give Gordon Elliott a third win in the race.

Peregrine Run, a first fence faller here on Sunday, is set to carry top-weight, but, a 10-time winner over fences, cannot be ruled out.
Willie Mullins hasn’t won the race since 2006 and relies on Cabaret Queen, third to Early Doors in the Galway Plate and the mount of Paul Townend, and the J P McManus-owned Blazer, yet to click in one of these big handicaps, but helped by first-time cheekpieces today.
The Charles Byrnes-trained Doctor Duffy opened his chasing account in Kilbeggan two runs back and followed-up with a gutsy win in Ballinrobe’s McHale Mayo National. He’ll have his supporters too.
On the supporting card, unbeaten Malone Road, successful on his hurdling bow in KIlbeggan, will be the star attraction in the Seamus Mulvaney Bookmaker Novice Hurdle, if ground conditions are deemed suitable. If not, Wajaaha should take advantage.
And, back against her own sex and helped by the step-up in trip, Western Victory is napped to land the Ballygarry House Hotel Mares Novice Chase for Declan Queally and Sean O’Keeffe.
