And Moverwiththetimes, the mount of rising star Darragh O’Keeffe, makes most appeal, coming into the race on the back of a smooth win in a ‘beginners’ in Killarney lats month.
Formerly trained by Paul Nicholls, for whom he finished second in the 2017 Betfair Hurdle in Newbury, the selection started joint-favourite for the Galway Plate, when having his first start to current handler Enda Bolger, but fell at the ninth.
He looks unexposed, nicely-weighted with 10-3 and should be involved at the business end of a traditionally tough contest.
Top-weight Yorkhill, winner of the 2017 ‘JLT’ in Cheltenham, is the class-act in the field. He returned to winning form in a conditions event in Galway last time, having unseated his rider in the ‘Plate’ and will be helped by going left-handed.
Others to note include ‘Plate’ fifth Ravenhill representing Gordon Elliott, who has won this race twice in the last three years, while both Na Trachtalai Abu and Internal Transfer have prospects of reach the frame, at juicy prices.
Earlier, Aidan O’Brien’s Lousiana, a promising third on debut at Gowran, might outpoint the consistent Shekhem in the two-year-old maiden while Angel’s Amy, so impressive here on Monday, will be expected to follow-up for Joe Murphy in the Brandon Hotel Handicap.
Laytown stages its annual meeting on the beach today, with the ‘Melbourne 10’ back for more fun by the sea – their colours will be carried by no less than fifteen of today’s runners. And I like Joseph O’Brien’s Blacklooks in the O’Neill’s Sport (Amateur) Handicap.
