NASHVILLE, Tenn. _ It wasn't pretty, but it was just enough as Florida slept-walked to a 13-6 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.
With the Gators offense struggling to get much accomplished, the defense stifled the Commodores attack and helped Florida (4-1, 2-1 SEC) get back to its winning ways.
Jordan Scarlett scored the game's only touchdown when he scampered in from four yards out in the second quarter to give the Gators a 7-0 lead.
Both teams would combine for four field goals to complete the game's scoring.
Vanderbilt (2-3, 0-2) did have the ball in the final minute with a chance to tie the game or go for the win and the Gators' defense sealed the game with an interception with 54 seconds left.
It was the second turnover of the game forced by Florida, who held Vanderbilt to 265 total yards of offense.
The Gators had just 236 yards of total offense.
Florida has won 25 of 26 meetings with Vanderbilt. The last time the Commodores beat the Gators at home was in 1988.
