Listeria is now being linked to a brand of cheddar cheese being sold by the major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda.
The potentially deadly bacteria outbreak has infected numerous food products over the last few months and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a stark warning informing customers about the latest product.
Lactalis McLelland Ltd has taken the precautionary step of recalling Galloway Coloured Medium Grated Cheddar because the product might contain Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeriosis is a rare but serious foodborne illness caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.
It can prove dangerous for people who have weakened immune systems, and also the elderly, pregnant women and infants.
Galloway Coloured Medium Grated Cheddar is sold in Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda, reports Wales Online.
The bags affected have batch number 9154G53 and a best before date of 26/08/2019.
The Food Standards Agency says: "The health risk to the public remains low and individuals should only seek medical attention if they develop symptoms."
They strongly urge customers not to the eat product, and to return it to the store they bought it from.
