Listeners disappointed after Ryan Tubridy makes big radio show announcement

Ryan Tubridy has announced he will be taking a break from his morning radio show.

Listeners were left disappointed after Tubs said he was taking a few days away from the show to "regroup".

RTE star Ryan also admitted that much of his focus is now being placed on the Late Late Toy Show.

The clock is ticking down for the annual TV event which is due to take place on Friday, November 27.

And last week Tubs told disappointed fans that was part of the reason he would not be appearing on his radio show for the next few days.

On Friday Tubridy told his listeners: "I’m not with you next week because I’m taking a few days off to regroup with the Toy Show going on.

"It's going to be epic and I really want to be match-fit for it and take a few days just to breathe and give you a break as well from me, there’s no harm in that."

The history and politics buff - who has written two books about US President JFK's 1963 visit to Ireland - also confessed that he plans to pull an 'all-nighter' to watch the US elections on November 3.

Ryan said: "I’m thinking of pulling an all-nighter and just going for it and getting a few beers and watching it through the night because it’s just too good, it’s too historic not to be watching on the huff."

He added: "I mean it’s just amazing. If you had a kid in TY I’d say take the Wednesday off and watch history, don’t learn about it in 10 years, watch it now."

Comedian Oliver Callan will take over the hot seat this week, with his stint beginning today.
