It is no secret that music plays a massive part in conveying emotion in The Last of Us.

To mark today’s launch of The Last of Us Part II, British singer-songwriters Emily Burns and Dan Caplen have produced two new versions of the song "Through the Valley", featured in the reveal trailer for the game in 2016.

Through The Valley quickly became a viral hit, previously reached number 1 in Spotify’s viral chart, and spawning numerous covers by diehard devotees of the game.

Emily Burns, one of the UK's up-and-coming pop talents and Dan Caplen, a contemporary R&B and soul singer, famed for his previous work with Rudimental and Macklemore, have each recorded a version of the track.

Emily Burns said: “I was really excited to be approached by PlayStation for my take on ‘Through the Valley’ to celebrate the launch of The Last of Us Part II. I loved the song as soon as I heard it and immediately picked up my guitar and started working on my own way of singing it".

The respective artists are each due to perform their versions of Through The Valley live on their Instagram channels today. Fans can tune in at 6pm to enjoy Dan’s version (@DanCaplen) and at 7pm to hear Emily’s (@EmilyBurnsMusic). The tracks are also available to hear via Emily and Dan’s YouTube channels (Emily Burns & Dan Caplen).

The Last of Us Part II has officially been released on PS4 today, Friday, June 19.
