The Infamous Stringdusters have never been ones to stick to convention. Since their debut in 2007, the bluegrass band have pivoted towards newgrass, and set off on a six-day river float journey on the tail-end of a tour raising awareness about river conservation in the US. Not quite the usual gear-in-a-van setup along the motorway, to be sure.
Following on from this year’s covers EP Undercover, the five-piece are breaking from the norm again with a sixth album filled with guest vocalists. The likes of country star Lee Ann Womack, pop-soul singer Joss Stone, Grammy 2016 folk nominee Abigail Washburn and multi-genre veteran Joan Osborne are to be found weaving their vocal melodies over the Stringdusters’ lilting banjo, guitar and fiddle lines across the 12-track album.
Hear track Won’t Be Long, featuring folk and roots music singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz, ahead of the album’s release in February 2016 and let us know what you make of it.
The Infamous Stringdusters are Andy Hall on Dobro, Andy Falco on guitar, Chris Pandolfi on banjo, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle and Travis Book on double bass. Their album, Ladies & Gentlemen, is due out on Compass Records on 5 February 2016.
