Listen to the 'ghostly female voice' captured at the Tall Ship Glenlee

Halloween is just around the corner and we're in the mood for a good scare - and nothing is guaranteed to give you the heebie jeebies like the voice of a disembodied spirit.

Here's a dive back into our archives, all the way back to the end of 2017, when a ghost hunting team contacted Glasgow Live with what they believe to be the voice of a female spirit.

The recording was captured in the engine room of the Tall Ship Glenlee, a popular Glasgow attraction which, let's be honest, we would hesitate to stay in alone after dark.

The team at Scottish Ghost Nights listened back to their tapes from the November hunt and discovered the EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) - and we think you’ll agree that it makes for spooky listening.

Lisa Tedstill, of Scottish Ghost Nights, believes it to be a female voice - and one that doesn’t belong to any of the living on board the ship that night.

She told Glasgow Live: “We think she says ‘hello, I’m here, hello’ - what do you think?”

The Tall Ship first took to the water in 1896, having been built as a bulk cargo carrier in Port Glasgow. She circumnavigated the globe four times and survived, passing through terrible storms - so it’s safe to say there are a few stories contained within her hull.

The ship was saved from dereliction by the Clyde Maritime Trust and restored as one of Glasgow’s major visitor attractions - but are there long-forgotten souls still residing below deck?

Tell us what you think of the ghostly voice recording over on Facebook and Twitter.
