Listen: The Edinburgh single racing to the top of the iTunes charts for Scotland's mental health

A local Edinburgh Choir has released a new charity single to raise funds for Mental Health Charity SAMH.

Sing in the City has launched a charity song ‘Follow the Rainbows' which is sitting at number 21 in the iTunes charts.

The charity single was recorded over zoom calls and tells the story of the mental anguish felt by many during the coronavirus outbreak.

Kirsty Baird, Musical Director for Sing in the City said: “It is well documented and has never been truer, that singing is a positive aid for good mental health which has been evident through how the choir members have adjusted and adapted during this difficult time.

“Even before the UK quarantine was put in place it was clear that the Sing in The City members were more afraid of the isolation than they were of the virus.

“Choir means more than just singing to our members, it is interaction, friendship and laughter and as the quarantine began, normality was soon replaced with anxiety."

Hanley and the Baird - Follow the Rainbows, shot to the top ten in the iTunes charts when it was released on 24 April.

You can get it back to the top ten by downloading the charity single here.

100 percent of the proceeds are donated to SAMH.
