Listen: Matt Ryan gives expectations for Todd Gurley, Julio Jones

In the three season since the Atlanta Falcons went to the Super Bowl, the offense just hasn’t been as potent as it was under former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

The team replaced him with Steve Sarkisian in 2017, then Dirk Koetter in 2019 with mostly mixed results. The Falcons’ problems offensively stem from more than just play-calling, though.

Running back Devonta Freeman was frequently injured over the past few seasons, while the offensive line tried to rebuild on the fly. These issues have led to predictable passing situations that took away from the productiveness of Julio Jones.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan thinks things will be different in 2020 after the team signed free-agent RB Todd Gurley to bring some balance back to the offense. Training camp has just kicked off, and already Ryan is seeing improvements.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, Ryan discussed his expectations for Gurley and Jones this season. Listen below, as shared by Mad Dog Sports’ Twitter account:
