List of West Lothian streets in line for new parking restrictions

New waiting restrictions are being proposed at various locations in West Lothian.

The council's Executive has approved the start of the statutory process towards installing 29 new waiting restrictions across West Lothian.

Roads and Transportation officers have collated enquiries and requests relating to areas in the county experiencing parking problems, which are considered to have an adverse effect on road safety.

These locations were identified through enquiries received from elected members, members of the public and a public petition. Police Scotland have agreed with the proposed locations, following joint visits to inspect if the areas of concern raised would be suitable for waiting restrictions and police enforcement.

Executive councillor for the environment Tom Conn said: “Parking problems have been flagged up in all the 29 locations listed.

“We believe the 29 locations could be improved by new restrictions, and the statutory process for their introduction will start shortly.”

The 29 locations including the following sites in Linlithgow: Water Yett; Provost Road car park; Regent Centre long stay car park; High Street; St Michaels Wynd; Mill Road Industrial Estate; Manse Road; Prestonfield Gardens; and Preston Road at the junction with Union Road.

The sites in Livingston are: Carmondean Centre Road; Eliburn South Road/Jackson Place; Kaimes Drive, Eliburn; ALBA Campus; South access Road to Almondvale Stadium; Alderstone Place; Simpson Parkway/B7015 Junction; Bellsquarry Primary School area; Murieston East at Bankton Lane; Toronto Avenue; Burnvale; Hochsauerland Brae – Civic Centre; Willowbank, Harrysmuir PS - Turning area; and Craigshill East Road at the Mosque.

Other sites in West Lothian are: Main Street/Muirs Court, Uphall; Woodville Court/Blythe Road Broxburn; Whitemoss Road and opposite Smithy Brae, Kirknewton; Bathgate Road and A705 East, Main Street, East Whitburn; Inchmuir Road in Whitehill Industrial Estate at Springfield Distribution entrance, Bathgate; and Academy Street, High Academy Street in Armadale.

Councillor Chris Horne joined other councillors in welcoming specific sites added to the waiting restrictions but added that they would only work if properly policed and they highlighted the need for a parking policy from the council.
