List of everything that will stay open if Ireland moves to Level Five lockdown

Following a meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team on Sunday night the country is waiting in anticipation to see if harsh restrictions will be introduced.

NPHET issued a shock recommendation last night that the entire country should be placed on Level 5 lockdown.

This would see the tightest restrictions put in place in Ireland similar to what we saw back in April.

The government will meet with health chiefs this morning before Cabinet then meets this evening to discuss the recommendations before an announcement is made to the public.

While there is plenty of talk of what will be shut down there are still areas of society that will have to keep operating.

Here's everything that will stay open if Ireland goes into level 5 lockdown:

Take-away restaurants

While restaurants, bars and cafes will no longer be allowed to offer sit in dining or outdoor they will be permitted to offer take away or delivery services.

Retail services

Only essential retail services will be allowed to open. This refers to the likes of grocery stores, garages, and newsagents. Other retailers such as hairdressers, barbers, clothing retailers etc will have to close once again.

Pubs

Both wet pubs and pubs that serve food will have to shut their doors however they are permitted to sell food and drink on a take away and delivery basis.

Churches and places of worship

Places of worship will remain open for private prayer however religious services will be held online. Funerals can take place however up to 10 mourners can attend.

Playgrounds and parks

Playgrounds and parks can stay open with protective measures in place.

Hotels

Hotels and accommodation will open only for those with essential non-social and non-tourist purposes.

Schools, Creches and colleges

At present all three will stay open however this is subject to change due to recommendations based on situation and evidence at time.
